One of the hardest market conditions to day trade is a choppy, sideways market with no clear direction.

In this video, I’m trading the Micro E-mini Nasdaq (MNQ) using NinjaTrader and showing you what happens when price gets stuck in a range shortly after the market opens.

The market moves down, back up, down again, and then reverses again. This is commonly referred to as chop, whipsaw, sideways trading, or a range-bound market.

So what should a day trader do?

Instead of automatically trying to buy the bottom and sell the top of the range, I demonstrate how I use the Atlas Line from Day Trade to Win to help determine whether I should be looking for long trades, short trades—or staying out completely.

In this video you’ll learn:

• How to recognize a choppy or range-bound market
• Why sideways markets can be extremely difficult to trade
• Why squeezing/compressing your chart can reveal the larger range
• The risks of repeatedly counter-trend trading a channel
• How I use the Atlas Line to establish directional bias
• When a potential Atlas Line signal should be filtered out
• How to prepare for an eventual breakout from the range
• Why knowing when NOT to trade is just as important as finding an entry

I also show the Day Trade to Win News Indicator for NinjaTrader, which displays scheduled market news events directly on your chart so you can prepare for potentially volatile periods.
